President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo presented a list of ten actions her government will undertake in favor of women on the occasion of International Women's Day. Accompanied by other political figures and activists, she highlighted the recognition of the historical work of women in Mexico. In a speech from the National Palace, Sheinbaum affirmed that all women are presidents of Mexico and have the right to a free and fulfilling life.
"Not one more femicide, not one more blow, not one more violent treatment or word against Mexican women," declared Sheinbaum. Among the announced actions are the creation of commemorative dates in honor of historical women, the opening of a room dedicated to women in history at the National Palace, and the distribution of Women's Rights Cards throughout the country.
Additionally, the construction of a national network of weavers of the homeland is proposed, the implementation of the Wellbeing Women's Pension, the construction of 200 Child Education and Care Centers for working mothers, and the permanent recognition of indigenous and Afro-descendant women. Preference will also be given to women in the housing program, agrarian rights will be recognized for 150,000 women, and forums will be initiated to determine future actions in favor of women.
Sheinbaum highlighted her political movement, the Fourth Transformation, as the only one capable of addressing the issues of Mexican women, criticizing the opposition for considering their rights as privileges reserved for a few. With calls for unity among women, the president emphasized the importance of gender equality and the end of violence against women as pillars of her administration.
